Lawrence Marsh 4/1/2014 Dear Fellow Classmates: As of this date, the Music Makers club is still going strong, meeting always the first Sunday afternoon of each month at various club members' homes from 3-6 PM. So here is again a possibility for mini-reunions for those HPHS 1964 classmates who live in the greater Washington D.C. - Baltimore areas. I add this message now because I want to register a change of club e-mail contact: it will be: amateursdemusique@gmail.com. Passive-audience listeners, as well as active performers, are welcome to attend these meetings. There is no financial obligation connected with this club or its activities. Contact with our club manager, Mr. Steve Yusko, through this e-mail address, will put your name and contact information on our club newsletter recipient list. You will be notified within two or three days of the meeting, as to its location. Our club will be having a monthly musicale meeting one day after our 50th reunion, for those of you who might want to stay for it. I do plan to attend our 50th reunion and hope to see many of you there. -Lawrence K. Marsh / HPHS Class of 1964

Steve Hanyok 1/18/2013 I ask GOD to give all of us the best of health, happiness, and longevity. I hope to see ALL of you at the 2014 Reunion!! Have any of you had difficulty viewing other classmates info on this web site? I have, and Mark Lavine gave me a work-around for that. Use another browser such as Google Chrome. It worked for me. GOD BLESS MARK LAVINE.
Ursula Kofahl 1/8/2013 I still read messages on the bulletin board and hope others do too. Just a little note to wish a Happy New Year to all my fellow '64 alumni. Whenever I read about the passing of one of our former classmates, it reminds how precious our lives are and how quickly time passes - and so again, Happy New Year and live life intensely!!
The Reunion Committee 12/12/2012 We're getting close to our 50th High Point reunion. Please make sure we have your contact information. We have lost contact info on many classmates so if you're interested in joining us for the 50th please email info to a Committee member.
Dorothy Kendall 9/26/2012 Our classmate, John Kocerhan, passed away on Sunday. He battled cancer for the last 13 years. He always said that he thought he was put on this earth to make people laugh and that he did, regularly. He was one of a kind. This is very difficult.
The Reunion Committee 8/11/2012 Donald Eugene Crook (1945 - 2012)   |   Visit Guest Book Donald Eugene Crook of Camarillo was born in Ord, Neb. on October 19, 1945. He died on Thursday, August 2, 2012, in Camarillo from injuries sustained in a car crash. Don was deeply loved and cherished; the pain of his loss knows no bounds. He was kind, gentle, tolerant, humorous (in a punny way) and basked in the love of his family and friends. Two years ago, Don was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and major surgery, he survived. All who knew him saw how bravery he fought the disease, never losing heart or his sense of humor. It makes it even crueler that he is taken from us now in this way. Don was preceded in death by his father, Charles Crook, his mother, Mildred Crook, and his sister, Carol Orwig. he is survived by his wife, Cathy and son, Evan, his brother, Charles Crook of Sanford, Fla., niece, Heather Mawhinney and her two daughters, Lauren and Caitlin of Winter Springs, Fla., and his nephew, Matt Orwig of Indianapolis, Ind. Don worked as a computer programmer at Intuit in Woodland Hills. His avocation was working on the research he did as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Linguistics at UC San Diego, recording and analyzing the native California language known as Serrano. A memorial will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Brooks Hall, 291 Anacapa Dr. in Camarillo (next to the United Methodist Church), at 10 a.m. This will be a time to share memories and stories, to celebrate a life rather than mourn a death. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Don to Cancer Research Institute, One Exchange Plaza, 55 Broadway Suite 1802, New York, NY 10006 www.cancerresearch.org. 'When he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he shall make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night." - Wm. Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet Arrangements under the direction of Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Dr. Camarillo, Ca 93010 Ph.# (805)482-1166 Published in Ventura County Star from August 10 to August 13, 2012
Barry Brownstein 8/10/2012 Don Crook's wife Cathy wrote me today to announce Don's passing. He was killed in a car crash, leaving Cathy and their son Evan. He was a great friend and I'll miss him. The memorial service is at Brook Hall, next to the United Methodist Church, in Camarillo, CA on September 22 at 11:00 AM.

Reunion Committee 8/21/2011 We are having a Mini Reunion on October 29, 2011. For details visit us on Facebook and the group High Point class of 1964 or email us at usafretired89@yahoo.com.
Dorothy Kendall 8/4/2011 Did the meeting in the Spring net any results regarding a mini-reunion?
Bill Baxter 8/3/2011 Hello All, Here is a link to an interesting YouTube slide show of iconic PG County photos from the 50's, 60's and 70's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuvu5IVDTb4&feature=youtu.be Enjoy.
Dorothy Kendall 4/14/2011 My only request is that we have coolish weather.
Reunion Committee 4/10/2011 Committee Meeting on April 16 to discuss possible mini reunion this year. Any comments? Keep them short please.
Lawrence K. Marsh 3/28/2011 I greatly appreciate Dianne Vaughan Carey's positive message for encouraging reunions. I have already suggested three possibilities: 1)Attending my Music Makers Club musicale meetings the first Sunday afternoon of each month; 2)Joining Toastmasters International, signing up at a local club chapter in your neighborhood; and 3)Holding mini-reunions in our private homes. Let me make one thing perfectly clear a la late President Richard Nixon-style: HPHS Class of 1964 classmates do have standing invitation to visit me at my home for about an hour or so, as long as they e-mail me in advance of their wishes to do so at lawrence619@verizon.net and we can negotiate a reasonable time to do this: week-ends are best for me. ALSO! Insofar as we had approximately 700 classmates in our graduating class, I am glad to meet with new ones I did not encounter before, as well as ones I did encounter during my sojourn at High Point. I never got to know any of you really well except for a few childhood neighbors I remember. But I did get to the point by the time I graduated of being able to match names with faces for about 100 of you. Let us get better-acquainted! May I suggest before meeting me in person, you read my BLOG, so you can know what to expect in me: http://lkmspeaksout.blogspot.com. I understand the hesitancy to make new acquaintances, and hopefully my BLOG will ease the way to me for you. I look forward to seeing and hearing from each of you! -LKM
Gary Lipshultz 3/12/2011 The Committee will be meeting in April to discuss the next mini reunion. Any suggestions are welcome. Send your ideas or comments to usafretired89@yahoo.com.
Dorothy Kendall 3/10/2011 So, do we have a feel for the responses to a mini-reunion? Would love to see folks we rarely see. Are we looking at 2012? or sooner?
Dianne Vaughan Carey 3/10/2011 Hi Larry! While we appreciate your statistical overview of the myriad reasons why HP grads might not have attended past reunions, I would like to add to your list: h)they didn't know about the reunion; i)they have died; and/or j) they have health problems that prevented them from attending. The list could probably go on and on, but the fact is--we all have lives, children, parents, and life events that interefere with attendance. Personally speaking, both of my parents died almost to the day of different reunions, so I could not attend them. So let's come up with solutions to communicating--like using Facebook for instance. You're on it. I'm on it. I connected with Gary Lipschultz, who was in my homeroom, and Bob Hereford, who was in my neighborhood. I found out they have had very interesting lives since High Point. Here's a suggestion: If you're retired, maybe you (or others) could think of strategies for mining connections to classmates in Facebook. I'm still working, so I really don't have the time. Thanks for your input, but instead of focusing on why classmates are not attending, let's figure out strategies to get them there. Love and Peace to you all.
Lawrence K. Marsh 3/2/2011 Only about 12-13% of our 1964 HPHS classmates attended our 45th reunion. It would be interesting to know, why the majority 87-88% of classmates declined to attend. The following reasons for non-attendance come to my mind: a)you formed no lasting friendships during those years; b)you had a far more pressing engagement at the same time of the reunion; c)you hated the High Point experience, would care to forget it and move on; d)the reunion location was too distant from your home and thus prohibitively expensive for you to attend; e)your past never has positive relevance to your present and future anyway; f)it is socially awkward to come if you are married to a spouse who does not share and appreciate the High Point experience; and g)you feel you have no topics in common with your classmates to discuss anyway. I personally had several of the above reasons not to come to the 45th reunion, but I CAME TO IT ANYWAY! While I would not spend five seconds discussing with you those old High Point days per se, I am still always eager and curious to discuss with you personal, national and international events in our lives since those High Point days, as evidenced by the many letters and e-mails I have already sent to some of you. My high value for each and every one of you continues well beyond the high school class-room experience because the grand classroom of life is the one that really counts the most at the end of the day! I intend to come to the 50th re-union and hope to see many more than just 12-13% of you there!
Lawrence K. Marsh 2/14/2011 In response to apparent desires for class mini-reunions, my suggestion is: Why not invite classmates to our own homes periodically, to share a meal and some fellowship together? I notice approximately half of us still live in the greater Washington D.C. - Baltimore area, so this proposal has all potentials of working out well at least for us.
Lawrence K. Marsh 2/12/2011 As I read your messages on this bulletin board and look at our classmate listings, I become aware of remembering many more of you than I first thought I did! Some of the ones who have passed away in recent years I also recall and express all appropriate sympathies due to affected parties. Some of you I remember even BEFORE High Point days, i.e. junior high school and even(in some cases) elementary school. I value all of you, and look forward to any mini-reunions we may have in the future. Those, in addition to the 50th anniversary one. I tentatively plan to attend the 50th reunion, but do not presume long-range assurance on that: I have now lived long enough to know that unforeseen events can suddenly intervene into our lives to drastically alter our plans. See the Bible, Proverbs 27:1. But in the meantime, I welcome correspondances from classmates to me by e-mail. lawrence619@verizon.net. ALSO! Those who would be interested to know me well personally but are not likely to contact me in person per se can read my BLOG: http://lkmspeaksout.blogspot.com If per chance you stop by my general vicinity for another reason, please feel free to stop by my home to briefly visit me. We are listed in the Montgomery County telephone book under Lawrence K. Marsh, give me a phone call first to check if your visit is momentarily convenient. If it is not, I will re-arrange another time for your visit here. ALSO: I repeat the possibility of visiting me at a monthly meeting of Music Makers--always the first Sunday afternoon of each month from 3-6 PM at various club members' private homes. For meeting details, please contact the club manager, Mr. Steve Yusko, at syus@loc.gov. Those of you who do read my BLOG articles will understand me to be deeply interested in and concerned with education issues. My High Point High School experiences have some influence on this focus of my attention. Finally, I wish to say here that I view friendship as being outside of time: old friends and new friends are all the same to me, I enjoy them all!
Lawrence K. Marsh 2/11/2011 Dear Fellow High Point Classmates: Here is another possible great idea for meeting old classmates, as well as making new friends at the same time: How about membership in Toastmasters International? I have now been a Toastmaster for the last year and eight months, and I can tell you the experience of learning public speaking skills and organizational leadership in working together with other people is nothing short of grand! As current VP Public Relations for my club, I encourage each of you to contact Toastmasters International at www.toastmasters.org. Then look up a club in your community under the heading-button of "Find A Club". Invite old HPHS classmates living in your area to also join your club, Toastmaster clubs often meet at least twice a month.
The Reunion Committee 1/21/2011 Okay gang. We're not getting any younger. Wouldn't it be great to see "old" friends once again. While we have several mini-reunions in between our 5 years reunions, it would be nice to start planning on attending the 50th reunion in 2014. No excuses. Just come!
Fran Trimmer (fischer) 1/19/2011 Wow, cant believe we will all be 65 this year. Moved to Arizona 20 plus years ago so have not been to any reunions. Have 3 girls, 3 grandsons and 1 great grandson. Would love to hear from everyone
Diane Pisano 1/19/2011 I'm saddened by the death of Diana Moores. As a Jr Hi and HS classmate I always thought of her as a beautiful, gentle person. I was happily surprized to see her again at the 2004 reunion and we were able to talk some. Still beautiful, gentle. You are remembered well Diana.
Barry Brownstein 1/15/2011 Greetings from Westerville (near Columbus), Ohio, where we've lived for nearly 35 years. There's still 5 months to go before I turn 65 but I've got to admit that's it's on my mind! Linda and I had a great time at last year's 45th reunion and look forward to this year's mini one and, God willing, the 50th. Even if you haven' been to a reunion -- or not for years -- you'll be surprised at how easy it is to reconnect with your old classmates. And thanks to the committee for keeping these things going!
Carole Teitelbaum 1/15/2011 Many thanks to the reunion group for all the work you do. Do any other High Point classes have web sites? I wanted to reconnect with friends from 1962 and 1963. Happy New Year to all!
Ursula Kofahl Lampron 1/14/2011 Wow 65, I don't feel 65....I am looking forward to seeing all my old (excuse the pun) classmates. Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy New Year!
Vivia Zimmerman Minkel 1/14/2011 Happy New Year to all! 2011 is the start of a whole new experience for all of us. Being full-fledged Senior Citizens. We've worked hard to get here and we need to enjoy every moment.
Dorothy Kendall 1/10/2011 I'm looking forward to the "reunion" and I'm wondering how class members will be celebrating their own 65th birthdays. This one is a biggie so I'm sure your plans will be interesting........
Evelyn K. Millard Shepard 1/9/2011 Thanks to Gary for posting this site! I just saw it this morning on Face book & right away came on. This is really great to be able to reconnect with so many of our classmates all in one place! However, when I tried to "View" some folks info & it said as a hint to the password "Principals name-lower case" & I typed in "chotiner" I wasn't allowed in. Is it his full name or has the password been changed? I also corrected/edited my info which was not correct. So if all those "old" friends want to get in touch; my e-mail address is: ekshep@att.net Love to hear from all the girls form GSA(the girls sports Assoc./girls in Gym classes; Girl Scouts; Adelphi Swim Team etc.) I'd love to hear from you as I live so far away from "HOME"(Beltsville) & naver get to see any one out here in Kansas. I'm also on Classmates & Face book with a few photos & my life story on Classmates.(Then U'll know how I ended up in Ks.)Again write & I'll answer as soon as I can. Wishing all a Happy, Healthy & Prosperious 2011! Later-Evelyn K. Millard Shepard in the Land of Oz & Sunflowers.

Ron Pence 12/8/2010 Someone found it: http://home.comcast.net/~nhsclassof64/
Ron Pence 12/1/2010 Does anyone know if there is a site like ours for Northwestern '64 ? Those of us who went to Rollingcrest Jr High would know alot of the NW people.
Gary Lipshultz 11/28/2010 Frank Manuel who was our classmate passed away on November 25, 2010. For those of us who knew and remember Frank he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Adele and the rest of his family.
Gary Lipshultz 11/22/2010 It's always sad when we lose one of our classmates. I remember Al quite well and as a matter of fact I moved into his apartment when I came home from California in 1969. His family is in our prayers.
Mike Alexander 11/22/2010 Ron, thanks for posting. Al had a brother Richard in the class of 65, so I am sure that it is him. Sad news. He had been a local business and political activist in Montgomery County.
Ron pence 11/19/2010 The service is at 12:45 P.M.
Ron Pence 11/19/2010 In the Post on the 18th there was an obituary for an Albert (no middle initial) Ceccone, with a son Albert C Ceccone, a brother Richard, and other kids and grandkids.I don't recall if Al had a brother, but it sound like this is our Al, of Bethesda. The service is the 20th at Gate of Heaven in Aspen Hill/Silver Spring.
Hi This is Nancy Funkhouser Willi 9/11/2010 Hello all of you fellow classmates. I recently connected with Ursula Kofahl Lampron and she gave me this web address. I have been living and teaching school on the island of Oahu in Hawaii for the last 36 years. If the reunion committee could give me updates, who knows, maybe I will show up to one of them! Some names I recognize but I lost track of my High School Yearbook somewhere during my life, and so will need a refresher course on many. I am very glad to have made this connection, especially with Ursula, because we were mostly always together in high school. Anyway let me hear from you.
Dorothy Kendall 8/30/2010 Norm, I'm so sorry to hear of your wife's passing. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Norm Saah 8/17/2010 Just to inform you all that my wife of 42 years lost her battle with Cancer and died on 8th of august 2010.
Gary Lipshultz 6/1/2010 Compliments of Mark Gerring: http://oldfortyfives.com/TakeMeBackToTheFifties.htm
Mike Alexander 4/12/2010 Gary, we should have a mini reunion at the Pooks Hill Marriott and have Mighty Mo's!
Gary Lipshultz 3/25/2010 Pooks Hill Marriott was selling Mighty Mo's for 10 bucks.
Ron Pence 3/23/2010 Mike, I have the recipie from a Washington Poat article years ago.
Mike Alexander 3/8/2010 Thanks Ron, I have set my DVR to record the repeat. It should be fun, but I wish I could find a Mighty MO!
Mike Alexander 3/8/2010 If you want to make your own Might Mo, try this: Might Mo Sauce recipe: 1/2 c. Hunt's Ketchup (no substitutes) 1/4 c. chili sauce 1-1/2 tsp. A-1 Sauce 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 drops Tabasco Sauce 1/2 c. finely chopped sweet pickle 1-1/4 c. mayonnaiseCombine ketchup, chili sauce, A-1 Sauce, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco Sauce. Add pickle to sauce mixture. Combine the sauce-pickle mixture with mayonnaise, stirring until well-blended. Store in a tightly covered container in refrigerator until needed.
Ron Pence 3/5/2010 Remember the Beltsville Drive-In??? It's were it cost all of one buck a carload, and is where we saw the T.A.M.I. show. It had all the rock legends of the time. The TAMI is on DC's PBS channel 22 this Saturday, the 6th, at 8 P.M.... Kick back with an orange freeze and Mighty Mo and enjoy it!
Reunion Committee 1/11/2010 WANT ANOTHER MINI REUNION? We don't know how many people read this message board, however, for those that do we'd like your input. We're going to have another mini reunion to celebrate our 65th year (age of course). We were planning on having it at the new Ledo's in College Park. No time, no date as yet but your input would be valuable. Just put a message on the board as to your suggestions and if there's enough interest we will proceed.
Reunion Committee 12/11/2009 There are still a few Memory Books left for the 45th High Point Reunion. If you'd like to purchase one, please contact Gail Mesmer Sheinin at bunny4146@comcast.net. The are around $25 which includes postage and Gail's handling. We had so much feedback from the reunion attendees and we appreciate all the "great" comments. It was a lot of work but worth the effort! Hopefully we'll see everyone in a couple years for another mini reunion. Happy Holidays. Your Committee.
Ron Pence 12/7/2009 Sad news in the newspaper yesterday: A fire broke out overnight in the old Allen Theater on New Hampshire Ave in Takoma Park, and it is destroyed. There were 120 firefighters on the scene. The building had been converted to a clothing store at some time. Nice memories there, the best was taking my grandmother to see Elvis in Loving You. Bob and I trudged through the March snow blizzard to see a movie which turned out to be "Oklahoma". Not what we had in mind, but we watched it anyway.
Dorothy E. Kendall 11/19/2009 Although I was able to attend the reunion for only a short time, I thought the venue, decorations, atmosphere was terrific! Hope we can use this lovely facility again. Beautiful! Thanks to our most-talented committee; they always come through!!!
Reunion Committee 11/18/2009 This is a survey of High Point Class of 1964 alumni. While the 50th is far off we are planning on having mini reunions. We would like to know of those that do not attend reunions, why, and if there are ways to get people to attend we'd like your input, i.e. where would you like the next reunion to be held and what time of year. Please email you responses to usafretired89@yahoo.com and thanks for the input.
Debbie Marshall (Vaccaro) 11/14/2009 I was not able to attend as we had a niece's wedding on the same day but I would love to see pictures-it sounds like it was so much fun - so sorry I had to miss it!! Debbie

Debbie Marshall (Vaccaro) 11/14/2009 Sorry that my message posted twice!! I was holding my 6 month old grandson and he pushed the submit button right after I did!! Really, I swear it was him and no I am not having a senior moment!!

Patsy Brown Lindbloom 1/14/2008 Diana Moores Olmstead is in an Alzheimer’s facility in Virginia . She is going down hill very fast. When her Christmas card was returned to me and her home phone was disconnected, I called the Laurel Police station where she works (ed) in the records department. I learned that she has been laid off because of memory problems that lead to many mistakes in her work. I talked with her mom, who is now 84, and she said that after Diana lost her job, she just crawled into her shell and has given up. She won’t eat or drink and is having multiple and serious health issues. I’ve tried calling, but she doesn’t pick-up the phone. I’ve written to her, but she really needs people who are close to go to her. She is in the SUMMERVILLE ASSISTED LIVING HOME- 3940 Prince William Pkwy , Woodbridge , VA 22191 - Phone 703-680-0600. I’ve lost my e-mail address for our High School Class, if you could forward this to Gary or Frank, perhaps there is still a chance of helping Diana pull out of this. Her friend from school, Diane Richards, has been visiting, but we need more help. I’ve told her in my note, that I will call her every Saturday to see how she is doing. Now I have to pray she’ll answer.
Kelly J. Morris 11/15/2007 Greetings! I have just published the first of five books on Africa. The others will be published by the end of 2008. "The Bight of Benin: Short Fiction" is a collection of 16 short stories set in the countries that border the "Bight": Ghana, Togo, and Benin. It can be ordered at www.AtacoraPress.com . I lived in the area for 14 years and visited very frequently when I was based based in the US. My son, Diego (High Point Class of 2003!) are living in Beltsville and taking care of my mother. Diego is a "computer guy," i.e. he works for a company that provides desktop and network tech support to government agencies and grantees. My best to all. Kelly
Lawrence K. Marsh 9/21/2007 Dear Classmates: Just a brief note to inform all interested parties that my e-mail address now is lawrence619@verizon.net. As of June 30, 2006 I retired from my government job at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency after 30 years of service with it and its administrative predecessors. The information and ideas given in my previous two Bulletin Board messages still stand today! Best wishes to all! -Lawrence K. Marsh
Susan (Hoff ) Gentner 6/7/2007 WOW! What an amazing site! I graduated in 1965 (delayed for personal reasons) but up until Senior year I was with the class of '64 all my life! I remember so many of these folks from Greenbelt's North End school, Adelphi Elementary, Buck Lodge Jr, and High Point...
Gary Lipshultz 5/4/2007 Sorry we just couldn't get it together this year for another mini reunion. Look forward to one next year for our 44th. Any suggestions? Email me at usafretired89@yahoo.com.
Carolyn (Lerner) Bernache 2/6/2007 Happy New Year to all. I have been in contact with a student (Mrs. Bahr) from the University of Maryland who is looking for folks who attended Langley Park Elementary School before it became Langley Park McCormick. She is working on her PhD and needs as much specific history as possible. She is looking for personal memories, pictures and other documents. If you can help or know of someone who could be of assistance please e-mail me at bernache@pgcps.org. Thanks
Pat Kopicki (Gardella) 12/31/2006 Does anyone have anyone know how to reach Whitey, Eddie or Dennis Keane? We went to school with all three, but I don't believe any of them graduated in our class. I know Dennis was a year behind us and the other two were a year or two older. My e-mail address is: patty15701@comcast.net.
Gary Lipshultz 12/29/2006 Here's to a healthy and happy 2007. May you all be blessed with good health and much wealth. Give a special hug to someone you love. Don't forget to keep up your mailing addresses.
Norm Saah 12/29/2006 Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
John Resio 9/22/2006 Never had a mind to post...but learning about Jimmy Doyle was very sad.
Gary Lipshultz 9/22/2006 The feedback from the reunion was great. It was our biggest turnout in years and everyone seemed to have a good time. There were a lot of folks that volunteered to help out with the next reunion . . . whenever that may be and we thank you for your offer. I hope that everyone keeps up their email and home addresses so that when we have our next reunion you can be found. Happy New Year to All my Jewish friends and those who know Jewish people. So if you're in our graduation class . . that means you!
Lesley (Winter) Fink 9/21/2006 Thanks for a wonderful reunion. It is hard to believe we will all be turning 60 this year. I remember I used the think the teachers were old and some of them we had were probably in their late 20's and early 30's! Does one's perspective ever change as they reach the "later" years! Some of us still think we are 16 but our body tells us differently! Now instead of discussing plans for the future, college, marriage, kids....we compare ailments! And we probably thought our parents were nutso! It was great seeing everyone. We may be getting grayer but we are getting better. Best wishes for the coming holidays and a special New Years.
Ursula Kofahl 9/11/2006 To all my former classmates hello and thanks to the creators of this site. I only discovered it yesterday and so missed the 60th Birthday party - hope there are others to come, If anyone knows how to reach Nancy Funkhouser or has news about her please let me know. My e-mail address is now on the alumni list of classmates. It is hard to believe that we are all approaching 60 or have arrived at this age!! Hope to hear from you. Ursula Kofahl Lampron ursulakofahl@yahoo.ca
Norm Saah 9/5/2006 The reunion was wonderfull, cannot wait for the next one. Thanks to all of the organizers. Norm
Norm Hooven 9/3/2006 Thanks to the reunion committee for your hard work. To my long lost friends of many years ago with whom I spoke: it was great to see you at the 60th BD reunion. You may be older, but I recognized you all (except you Brian).I hope to see you again, may God richly bless you all.
Carolyn Bernache 8/31/2006 Kudos to the Alummni Committee!! The 60th Birthday Party was a great idea and, as always, a wonderful event. I am looking forward to the next reunion.
Frank Lipshultz 8/27/2006 To all who attended last nights 60th birthday party thanks for coming and we will see you again in 3 years. To those of you who traveled long and far We appreciate your coming back. A special thanks to Gary who did 90% of the work and to his bride Joni who helped with the name tags (Stan's was the best) and to Martha your cake was out of this world! To Gail who passed the hat so we can start on the 45th year reunion. To Nancy who takes great pictures I can hardly wait to see them on this site and to Mark for making this site possible.
Ruth Petrov(Studenberg) 8/13/2006 Thanks for all the effort by the folks who have been the organizers(you know who you are). I have missed the previous reunions due to health issues, but I'm planning to make it to the Birthday Party Reunion this month. I was feeling kind of lonely what with the 60th birthday quickly approaching, but my problem has been solved. I really look forward to seeing all.
Norman P. Baker 7/30/2006 What a great idea, a Birthday Party! I hope to see some Summit Singers there. To the Committee, my thanks for the great job you do. To all you old Summits and Concert Choir singers, drop me a line: npaul.baker@att.net or call 240-475-1533. NPB
Gary Lipshultz 7/27/2006 Please remember to keep your personal information current. If you have a new email address or have moved please edit your address on this website.
Gary Lipshultz 7/19/2006 James Doyle James Edward Doyle, 60, a longtime coach and 33-year resident of Anne Arundel County, died July 13 at his home in Arnold after a lengthy illness. Mr. Doyle was born Jan. 15, 1946, in Washington, D.C., and was the son of the late Mary and Frank Doyle. He attended Prince George's County schools and spent two years in the Marine Corps, receiving an honorable discharge in 1972. He was a self-employed carpet subcontractor in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties for 25 years and a coach at Severn School in Severna Park. His passion was sports, especially football and basketball, and his coaching career spanned 40 years, culminating in 20 years of service to the young men of Severn School. During that time, he served as head football and head basketball coach, winning the Maryland Scholastic Association Championship in 1993. The football team was also conference champion in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Mr. Doyle was especially proud of the fact that he was named to the Severn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995 and that the gymnasium scoreboard was named in his honor. He was the consummate coach, never losing sight of the many "life lessons" that are learned on the field and on the court. He earned the respect and love of his players, many of whom continued to keep in touch through the years after graduation, his family said. In addition to coaching and his family, his other passions were fishing, crabbing and reading. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and spending time with close friends. Mr. Doyle is survived by his former wife, Jane Beckett-Donohue of Queenstown; one son, Adam W. Heinze of Annapolis; two daughters, Heather Ravanbakhsh of Grasonville and Lisa Dring of Pasadena; three grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 10920 Connecticut Ave., Suite 1600, Kensington, MD 20895.

rON pENCE 7/18/2006 The Sunday, July 16, Annapolis Capital-Gazette newspaper carried an obituary about one of our classmates, Jim Doyle. There were many kind words about him in that article. To top that- as if it needed to- the July 19 paper, on the front page (D1) of the sports section, has quite a 47-inch column article about Jimmy and his life. I'm sure there are many success stories of our classmates, but to read about Jimmy was to realize it was nice to have known someone who did so much good. I hope everyone can get to read the story.
Lawrence K. Marsh 6/18/2006 Dear Fellow Class-mates: Since we all are scattered to the far corners of our country, it is highly unlikely that all of us will be getting together very often. However, I have another idea for mini-reunions. Why not have reunions of those of us who live in the same town or county of a particular state? I see the following class-mates live in my home town of Gaithersburg, Maryland: Joyce Bossone, Michael Carroll, Sylvia Johns, Warren Levy, Jean Miller, and Douglas Wetzel. Would any of you like to suggest a time, place, and situation where we might have a Gaithersburg class mini-reunion? What are your e-mail addresses, so we might all mutually correspond? My e-mail address is evamarsh1@netzero.net. Please give me and the rest of us some suggestions!
Kris Rodriguez 6/13/2006 I live in California and am 33 years old. Many years ago i was digging around in my front yard and found a high school class ring. I am trying to find the owner. All i can make out on the ring is: 1964, the initials "LC", and an eagle in the middle of the stone with wings spanned out over the letters HPHS. Not sure if it is from someone who went to your school. If you have any information, maybe we can reunite this lovely ring with it's owner. I have only found one HPHS online that even mentions having an Eagle for a mascot. If this doesn't ring any bells that will be fine. I'm sure i will find the owner someday. If you would like to contact me my email address is: krod@cox.net Thanks for your help!!
Lawrence K. Marsh 6/5/2006 Dear HPHS Class of 1964 Fellow Graduates: For those of you living in the greater Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas, I have an idea for re-uniting at least some of our class-mates. Are any of you musically-inclined, i.e. do you play a musical instrument, or do you like to hear live music? I have played the cello since early childhood, and now, I belong to an amateur music club called Music Makers. We always meet the first Sunday afternoon of each month at various club-members' homes, just to enjoy playing for each other and listening to other members play as well. Club membership is free, and if you are interested to participate in the club, either actively or passively, please contact our club manager, Mr. Steve Yusko, at syus@loc.gov. You will receive monthly notice of future meetings. In any event, this is a great opportunity for the music-loving among us in the HPHS Class of 1964 to re-unite once a month for great music fellowship.
Fred Arbogast 6/3/2006 What a great web site! Feel free to add my email address to the list and pass along to all. fwarbogast@adelphia.net
Carole (Hayo) Moore 4/2/2006 For those of us who moved out-of-state, a huge "thanks" for devising a method of keeping us connected. My new email address is: moorecarole@bellsouth.net. Later. . . Carole
GLL 3/22/2006 Please pass this web page: http://www.highpointhsclassof64.org/ to all classmates that you keep in touch with. If your email address has changed, please notify a committee member. Thanks. Hope to see as many of you as possible on the 26th of August.
Gary Lipshultz 3/15/2006 The Date is Set: Mark your calendars for August 26th, 2006. The Sir Walter Raleigh Inn, Greenbelt Road, College Park, Md. 6 p.m. This is a celebration of the Class of 1964 60th Birthday year. Any questions can be directed to me at: usafretired89@yahoo.com. Please tell as many graduates as possible about this mini-reunion. Also, there will be a sign up on this web site for those attending. Please, if you are planning on attending, sign up or let one of the Committee members know that you are coming so that we can tell the restaurant. The only charge will be 6 dollars for the food provided. Not a bad price to pay to see "old" friends. Those of you who attended last years reunion know how much fun this can be. Pass the word. Thanks again to Mark Lavine for this fab web page.
Gary Lipshultz 2/24/2006 More people to find: Barry Litsky Barbara Hildreth Bonnie Boyer Sharon Lawrence (Foy) Roberta Burk Stan Goldstein Ralph Truitt Rita Sayer Wayne Edington Tommy Weidman Mike Alexander Nancy Brannon Mary Baxter If you have these email addresses, please send them to a committee member. Thanks.

Gary Lipshultz 11/3/2005 Fellow Classmates - The demand for a mini reunion has been overwhelming the last several months and therefore the Committee has picked a time and date where hopefully many of you will be able to attend. We have made arrangements with the Sheraton, College Park for Saturday, November 26 at 5:30-until whenever. We shall gather at the bar area and there is no charge but pay as you go. We will need an approximate count so if you plan on attending, please let Frank, Martha, or Gary know. This date was picked because we felt that a more than usual amount of graduates would be in town for the Thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully you can attend and if not we'll try again for next year. Please respond to this message or to Martha Masters Robin: mrobin@benchcomm.com; Frank Lipshultz: lawfll@comcast.net . Thank you and hope to see as many of you as possible on the 26th. The Committee Gary, Frank, Martha, and Gail
Dorothy Kendall 8/15/2005 I've been looking through the photos and remembering what a great time I had at the reunion! The committee continues to outdo itself and I do hope "mini reunions" will be possible soon.
David Rinker 5/25/2005 I did not know that the Class of 64 had such a great web site until Gary Lipshultz sent the 05/24/05 emailed to get together during interim years, such as Ledo’s Pizza in August or September. I have added this web site to my Favorites. Thank you Mark Lavine. I also want to thank the reunion committee (Gary, Frank, Martha, and Gail) for a great 40-year reunion.
Gary Lipshultz 5/24/2005 Hey E.T., now we know who your crush is on. Please pass on the message about our mini reunion. If anyone needs to contact me or if your email has changed, please let me know. You can email me at glipshultz@comcast.net or usafretired89@yahoo.com.
Ellen Walker Ternes 5/24/2005 Kelly Morris, if you're reading this phone home - 301-318-4208.
Patricia Price Lupo 3/26/2005 What a wonderful web page and such great photos! I would like to get together at Ledo's; just name the date! I wish I could have been at the reunion with you; Gary sure tried to get me to come. However, health problems kept me away. Hopefully, the next time there's a get together, that won't be an issue. Just looking at the pictures Norm took made me wish there could be another one this year! Pat
Gary Lipshultz 3/7/2005 Anyone interested in a get-together at Ledo's? Perhaps in June. Pass the word and let me know and I'll make the arrangements. You can contact me at glipshultz@comcast.net.
Barry Brownstein 12/15/2004 This site is a great idea! Sorry I missed the reunion; my wife (Linda) had some surgery but she is doing fine. Since the reunion, we've had our first grandchild (a boy) and I'm just finishing up my second semester in PA school. I have my old Md freshman beanie here to remind me of going through orientation so long ago with Bruce Arrett.
Jeannine Royce Sears 12/7/2004 The website's a great idea and adding the bulletin board has made it even better. My husband and I have an upcoming trip planned to the Adelphi area after Christmas. I'll be checking periodically for word of a gathering at Ledo's.... would love to see some folks.
Gary Lipshultz 12/3/2004 For those of you that check the site we'd like to have more feedback. If you are viewing this site please contact the reunion committee at usafretired89@yahoo.com so that we can see how many of you are actually using this site. We would like to have a get together at Ledo's soon and would like to know if there is any interest. Happy Holiday's to all of our fellow classmates. The Reunion Committee
Ron Pence 11/24/2004 Who went with Jim Gregg and I to see the Beatles in Feb '64 in D.C.?
Barbara Lee Johnson 11/12/2004 Thanks so much to the reunion committee again and a special thanks to Mark for this website. I will be checking the bulletin board periodically for news of any future gatherings that I might be able to attend. Or see if anyone else has added pictures. I myself will try to add the ones that I took... Love to all, Barbara...

Judy Richstatter Hancock 11/4/2004 Hi Gary and Hi Mark, Just got the message and am looking at the bulletin board. This is great! You guys are incredible on keeping all our communications going. What a great reunion we had, just got some photos of my own yesterday that turned out good. Keep me posted on the "Ledo Gatherings" or wherever they may be. We could even do one here in Olney if you want! Hugs & hugs, Judy

Claudia Mara McCormack 11/3/2004 Thanks again Gary, for the great work you do in keeping our class in touch. And Thank You Mark, for all your time and effort in putting OUR OWN website together~! This is very COOL~ I hope we can use it as a sort of "Chat Room" to keep in touch with the graduating Class of 1964. It took me 40 years, but I finally made it to a Reunion, and I'm so glad I did. I'm going every year from now on~!
Gary Lipshultz 11/3/2004 A great big thanks to Mark Lavine for designing and implementing our new Home Page. Hey Mark, you're the best!
